Modal analyis- bar divison

Hello,

I have the following doubt, i was running a simple modal analysis on a column only with self-weght, and i noted that if i divided the column into more elements ( or just created more nodes) the frequency of column changed.

What i want to know if this discretization gives more accurate results, i.e, the mass of the column is distributed into n degree of freedom along the column?

Yes, it does especially when you use the lumped mass matrix where mass can only be 'assigned' to nodes.
