I have a beam of 400x450 (cross section area = 180,000mm2) with maximimum provided (real) tension reinforcement of 8 * dia 25mm bars = 3927mm2. After verification, I get an error message that reinforcement percentage exceeds 4%. The maximum reinforcement percentage outside of lap locations, according to EC2 of either tension or compresion reinforcement is 4% of concrete section. In this case my reinforcement percentage is 2.18%. It appears ROBOT is interpreting the limit as being applicable to both tension and compression reinforcement.
