Load table issues

Look out, I'm fired up about this!

I hope there is a simple answer, but this problem is seriously f^%king with my head.

When I use load table to edit values, it is seriously frustrating to enter / modify contents of certain cells.

Main issues;

  • When you add the new load case, it automatically moves it somewhere up the list, not leaving it on the bottom line where you expect it;
  • Then, it's harder to choose the load type etc, because the load case has moved;
  • Robot then seems to automatically select a list of bars / nodes that are not the one you want to enter.
  • You have to then overwrite the automatically inserted bar / node, sometimes this new number(s) is copied to clipboard, and when you click on another cell it over writes that cell too.
  • If you have a long / complicated load list, you can very quickly WIPE OUT ALL OF YOUR PREVIOUSLY ENTERED LOADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems Robot uses the "synchronise" between views / tables function, so if I select a cell, Robot copies this list to the clipboard. When I click on another cell, the contents are overridden. 😞

Please address these issues ASAP.  It is a serious lack of basic functionality and can cause inadvertent loss of a lot of work.  It is hard to notice Robot cheekily over wrtiting all of your load definitions - if you then save your model you're f&^ked. 😞

Please forgive my swearing / bad mood.  This cost me a lot of time even on a basic model today.  My suggestion is to automatically disable view/table synchronisiation when using this particular table.  AND STOP RE-SORTING THE LIST HALFWAY THROUGH EDITING!!!

See video attached. Open the powerpoint and click play.

Rant over,

Tony

Hi Tony,

as concerns the automatic synchronization between views and tables in can be switched off from the context menu (right mouse buttton) of any table or from Job Preferences:

selection_synchro.png

As concerns "When you add the new load case, it automatically moves it somewhere up the list, not leaving it on the bottom line where you expect it":

Do you really mean adding the new load case or do you mean adding the new load record in the table of loads? You have not attached the video or link to it to guess what you mean.

If you mean the new load records in the table of loads: by default they are displayed in the order of creation - the latest ones at the bottom.

But by double clicking the "Case" header it is possible to sort it according to case number. If such  sorting according to case number is active the load records for single case are not sorted according to the order of creation.

May be this info will help.

Hi Pawel,

I understand automatic synchronisation can be switched off.  My suggestion is that the program do this AUTOMATICALLY for the load records table, and then reset it when the focus is off load records table.

Do you really mean adding the new load case or do you mean adding the new load record in the table of loads?

No - I mean adding a new load record in the load table, when you click near the '*' symbol, a new row is created.  Depending on how Robot is feeling she either puts the new record on the bottom row or somewhere else up the list.

The problem is, when the new record is moved up the list, the focus (i.e. highlighting blue) happens to an EXISTING load record!!! Then the user is tricked and changes an existing record.

You have not attached the video or link to it to guess what you mean.

Website won't attach and gives no error saying it can't. 😞

 Of course I understand this, this is not the issue.  Tomorrow i will try email my video.

Thanks,

Tony

Some conclusions resulting from the information transferred by Tony outside of the forum:

  • when adding new load records in the table of loads sorted according to load cases the existing load records can be deleted.  It is observed when Selection Synchronization in on or off

It is registered to be analyzed and fixed.

The workaround is to do not use sorting according to load cases when adding new load records in the table of loads.

It was fixed in Service Pack 2 to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2015.

Thats awesome! good work guys.

Been using 2015 for a few days now, got to say the wind load simulation is particularly good!  again good job on the continued development!
