Load distribution and Cladding element

Dear All,

I'd like to know further in depth the theoritical basis of cladding element, obviously it is very robust and it really simplifies the process of determining the distrubuteds loads. But it seems that mainly its been intended for the facade and roof loads.

Do we need to applly that if we wish to analyse the rigid diaphragm where load distribution will go from slabs to beams/girders (based on tributary area), or how RSA automatically applies this to the slabs ?

The way of applying load depends on what you set in the panel calculation model

I found that shown menu through Structure Model ->Geometry,  Floor and under the Model type combo box. So it means that it has individual sub menu for the definiton of semi-rigid, rigid things etc.. somewhere else? Can you specify from where is that reachable in teh RSA main menu?

  • If we have rigid diphragms how it really transfers the slab loads to the beams and with which method tributary area or FEM model from non-linear analysis?
  • Can we see visually the calculated loads transfered to beams from dead, live etc.. loads acting on the slabs?
  • How to model the composite slabs which rests on joists? Traversing through the forums reveals that RSA doesn't have such a module, but at least RSA should offer a reinforcement areas or stress diagrams as in input to designer. And again how RSA transfers the loads from composite slab to joists or girders ?

Your help will be appreciated,

Defining a panel you can select  one of the predefined calculation models or create a new one which then can be assigned to this panel as shown on the attached picture.

  • If we have rigid diphragms how it really transfers the slab loads to the beams and with which method tributary area or FEM model from non-linear analysis?

The kind of analysis is irrelevant. The default  the predefined rigid diaphragm calculation model the load transfer is done with use of the two-ways tributary area.

  • Can we see visually the calculated loads transferred to beams from dead, live etc.. loads acting on the slabs?

  • How to model the composite slabs which rests on joists? Traversing through the forums reveals that RSA doesn't have such a module, but at least RSA should offer a reinforcement areas or stress diagrams as in input to designer.

You can use the RC Slab Required Reinforcement module.

And again how RSA transfers the loads from composite slab to joists or girders ?

See the above points.

Thanks you really saved a lot of time for me ,

  • Is that RC Slab required reinforcement module calculates the reinforcement based on composite theory or simply by RC theory?
  • Is that RC Slab required reinforcement module gives any hint about the shear studs to be designed, because transverse shear have to be taken into consideration for such slabs?

The later.

No, this is not supported.
