Hi, If I modify my job preferences settings, and I want to replace the existing file, do I delete the file and save again under the new name or do I just go ahead and modify the preset "read only" setting and save under the existing name. Might seem a trivial question, but I have been suffering some crashes and I am not sure whether this is the cause

Hi
Do you want to assing new job preferences to existing model file or you want to create new model file with new \ different preferences?
So change them.
If you want to store (old) preferrences under specific name use diskette button.
OK thanks,
I just realized I can save my preferences as defaults and that would solve a lot of my problems.
I kept saving new files and any time i opened in repair mode I would have to recreate the files, sometimes forgetting to change one or two parameters. If I then went back to the file I created and tried to change these parameters, I got the message the file was read-only. I know you can right click properties ad disable the read only setting but was not sure what effect that was having behind the scenes.
In any case I now have me preferred parameters as Default.
Thanks
I thought you might want to assign correct job prefs to file opened in repair mode.
This is correct way.
OK will do, but are you saying if I save preferences as defaults I lose them if I open in repair mode?
If you save your prefs as a default after opening file in repair mode job prefs in model are removed and defaults ones are loaded.
Hi all How can i restore the default prefences of robot , because i made alot of changes in material proporties..... thank you ...
Users's modifications to material databases in 2015 release are stored in rmat*.xml files in this folder:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Structural\Common Data\2015
where "username" is your login.
In other versions analogously.
It is enough to delete rmat*.xml from this folder. Robot will restore the default then starting.
Regards,
