How to reverse Column behavior

Hello,

How do I tell Robot to design the middle column to take the load from the lower floor and transfer to the beam at roof level?

Best regards,

Aliyu A. Aziz

Hi

How do I tell Robot to design the middle column to take the load from the lower floor and transfer to the beam at roof level?

Please model it as a bar instead of a column.

Thanks Mustafa,

I have changed the member type to a simple bar. What would inform me that the bar is transfering load upwards? Thanks a lot for your guidance.

Best regards,

Check the middle columm axial force .If it is in tension , then , it is transfering the load to the upper beam.

If you don´t want to transfer the load to the lower beam , make it tension only bar on Geometry/additional atributes/Advanced bar properties or in Geometry/Releases if you still want the columm to carry moments and shears forces.
