RE:
edit shell/ edit panel/ edit contour
Is it possible to modify the length of a shell element?
If I have a 120-foot long, rectangular tube made of shells in eight, 15-foot segments (Joint spacing is 15 feet.)
and I want to change the model to represent a
120-foot long, rectangular tube made of shells in three, 40-foot segments (Joints at 40 feet.),
can I edit the shells using ROBOT's graphical user interface, or must I redraw all shells/ panels/ contours from scratch?
I first tried doing it the "SAP2000 way"; I selected the nodes at one joint and tried to edit/ move them 25 feet, hoping that some panels would lengthen and others would shorten; however, nothing at all happened, so that seems not to work in ROBOT.
I thought could do it by changing the X coordinates of two points of a selected flat, rectangular contour in "Polyline-Contour", but I ended up changing the flat rectangle into a 3D surface.
