elastic and nonelastic slab deflection verifications?

In help manual, it said deflections can be verified by either elastic or non elastic method.

Are there different design applications with one way and the other?

Is non elastic verification process is more suit for long term deflection check or is it just more close to cases that bay spans in two directions iare significant different, since non elastic attribute different stiffness in two directions based on reinforcement reuired/provided?

Please find attached extract chart from help manual, Any advices would be appreciated.

Thanks

Please check this part of help for the elastic approach:

http://docs.autodesk.com/RSA/2012/ENU/filesROBOT/GUID-5825DF36-A541-4D2D-B521-A53ABB80760-1158.htm#G...

and the attached documents for the stiffness update method.
