Detailed and Principal Moment/Shear Results for Plates

Guys,

I am modeling a turbine foundation as a 2d plate model on an elastic subgrade. I am currently reviewing the results and notice that the results for moments and shears differ depending on whether the 'detailed' or the 'principal' results are selected within the the panel maps results tab.

What is the difference between 'detailed' and 'principal' results in Robot panel map tab? 

Also in 'principal' results what is the difference between 1, 2, 1-2? Do these correspond to an axis direction?
