Design Cold Formed purlin

Hi all!!

when calculating a purling using thin wall section, with the collaboration of the sheeting (EN 1993-1:2005). The second moment of area of the free flange  I think it is wrong.

Ifz, is the second moment of area of the gross cross-secction of the free flange plus the contributing part of the web for bending abouz the z-z axis.

The value given is the robot  Ifz= 48.36 cm4

How is it possible?

Regards,

Hi,

Sorry for delay

The main difference is that you calculated Ifz about the local axes of the bottom (cut off) part of the section (red line on my screen capture) whereas Robot does that about the z-z main axes of the 'whole' section which I think i acutally correct.
