Structural Area Reinforcement in Conc Wall: Hook @ Bottom - NO Hook @ Top?

I placed a Structural Area Reinforcement on my Conc wall. I need it to show a hook at the BOTTOM of the vertical bars but NOT the top. So far, I've only been able to enable BOTH hooks or disable BOTH hooks.

Is there some way to accomplish this?

Now that I've done that, I no longer have a Structural Area Reinforcement.  I wanted to use this so that if/when a wall is changed (adding, moving or removing an opening) the rebar would update.

So is there no way to remove the hooks without losing the connectivity with the wall?

Ok thanks anyway.  That seems like it's either a bug or an oversight on the part of the developers.  What's the point of creating the Area if I have to delete it just to not show the hooks at one end?  Please submit it as such.

You can achive the same if you do seperate operation for each wall & footing. 

That way it seems to be technically correct too.

This may be a dumb question, but what rebar shape are you using?  Have you tried shape 17A?

Sorry for dumb question, but are you talking about Area Reinforcement without deleting System?

As best I can tell, Structural Area Reinforcement doesn't include an option or "Rebar Shape".

I know I can choose different shapes when placing separate bars.  But thanks.

Area reinforcing? Why do this in a wall?  I just used standard rebar with max. spacing settings. If you must use area reinforcing for this, you're probably out of luck.  To my mind, area reinforcing is better used for slabs....

As stated above, I wanted the rebar to automatically adjust as openings are added, removed, modified or moved.  I went down this rabbit hole when I had to move a wall opening and ended up with rebar sticking up through the opening.

Yes, we are talking about Area Reinforcement - see thread subject - whatever reason for doing that for walls is.

O.k. I understand you point now. We would never detail the footing dowels as part of the actual wall reinforcing. These would be separate from the area reinf. as you are using it in this case. Feel free to disregard my comments.

Here's a 3d view of my project file so far -- I've turned everything off except for rebar.  I've highlighted the vertical rebar from one wall that has no openings.  The wall opposite from that one also has no openings.  The other two walls each have two overhead doors and a normal 36" door.

Your video shows how to draw rebar in ONE SECTION.  But then I need a section at each opening.  If I use the area, the rebar will avoid the openings automatically.
