Problems with room spaces when converting IFC to RVT

I have problems with the convertion of an IFC-file created in ArchiCAD 17 to a Revit-file in Revit Structures 2014 Update Release 2. Rooms which have been defined as an enclosed space in ArchiCAD either:

- appear as room spaces in Revit which do not follow the room boundaries (tends to be a cube of random height instead of following ceiling boundary, follows wall boundary nicely)

- appear as room spaces which are "not enclosed"

- do not appear as room spaces at all

The problem can only be solved by manually drawing the extents of all the rooms, which is a rather cumbersome and time consuming process. When the IFC-file from ArchiCAD is viewed in Solibri 9.1.14, the rooms are defined as spaces, as should be. The problem therefore seems to lay in the convertion from IFC to RVT. The architect has double-triple checked the ArchiCAD-file and can not find any differences in how the rooms have been modelled whatsoever.

What can be the cause of these problems, and more importantly how can they be solved efficiently?
