Modified Faimly Issues

Hello,

I'm fairly new to revit, I was trying to find a way to modify a family and I'm having some issues.

I found this link: http://revitrandoms.blogspot.com/2011/09/family-catalogues-in-excel.html

So I modified the contents of

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RST 2015\Libraries\US Imperial\Structural Columns\Stee\W-Wide Flange-Column.txt

And it says it cant read them:

,W##other##,A##area##inches,d##length##inches,bf##length##inches,tw##length##inches,tf##length##inches,k##length##inches
W44X335,335,98.5,44.0,15.9,1.03,1.77,2.56
W44X290,290,85.4,43.6,15.8,0.865,1.58,2.36
W44X262,262,77.2,43.3,15.8,0.785,1.42,2.20
W44X230,230,67.8,42.9,15.8,0.710,1.22,2.01

Whats wrong?

Tony

Save your txt catalog file with ANSI encoding instead of  Unicode.

You will see there are some additional 'question mark' characters in the header which make the problem:

bf##?length##inches

tf##length##inch?es

Delete them, or just use this header line:

,W##other##,A##area##inches,d##length##inches,bf##length##inches,tw##length##inches,tf##length##inches,k##length##inches

I copied your header as changed my save option in UltraEdit to ANSI\ASCII and it worked.

Thanks a bunch!
