joist - can't make type

hi,

I am unable to place a joist. on 3'-0", a 22" depth joist cannot be place, why? and how can i do to place a joist when revit warning says: "can't make type "k-series Bar joist - rod web pourelles 22"". without change the depth of the joist (because if I reduce the depth at 8" for example, it works.)

thank you

I had this happen in one of my first projects.

I never broke apart the original OOTB k-series joist family, but I'm guessing that the issue has to do with the groups of web members and their respective dimensional restrictions/locks.  So, if you have a 22" deep joist, the length of the joist needs to be greater than the restrictions on the family.  That's why a more shallow joist will work for that length.

I think what I ended up doing (and I was using RST2010 at the time) was place the shallower joist, but label it with text instead of a tag.
