customizing a graphical column schedule

I have been asked to create a graphical column schedule which includes base plates with their elevations and sizes. Typically we do not model our base plates, but would add info to our column family for BPs to be included in a normal schedule. Is there a way for this to be added in a graphical column schedule? Would it work if I modeled the BPs instead?

Thanks,

Leah

Try "schedule keys" option if works with your requirements. Goodluck!

Modeling base plates will make model to heavy and will not let you to achieve what you want on GCS. You need to add a Shear Parameter in the Project Column Category, it should be an instance parameter. Say: B.O. Plate Elevation, BP Type, AB's Type. Then you need to create a tag (Modify existing Structural Column Tag), bring three sheared parameters above into tag family. Create a label that will be linked to these three parameters (make sure to check "brake between parameters"). When tag family will be loaded into project, use it to tag column in GCS. It will read entries from column instance properties. You will need to enter text information manually in every column. This information (three parameters above) can be scheduled and sorted. The reason to have a shared parameter in the project and not in the steel column family is to avoid a possible elimination of all information when somebody else will reload a steel column family (when trying to add an additional size for example). It is common when sizes added using a different sources on the company network. That will override the family and kill added parameters.
