Create a nested beam family

Hi all

 

I have been trying to create a beam nested family that works. When i load it into my project only the host beam extends while the nested beam shay short. Can sombody help?

I am trying to create a 3 beam driven by the host beam.

 

Just trying to learn the principle. Would be great if someone can teach or send a link on how it can be done.

 

Using Revit 2015.
