Revit 2017 - Can't find solution for formulas

Hi All,

I have just upgraded all of our company Revit library. I appear to have an issuing when trying to duplicate one of the concrete footing family in the foundation category.

After clicking duplicate through the properties menu and naming the element, Revit comes up with the following error.

Can't find solution for formulas for Type "C-Strip:".

The family previously never did this in Revit 2014 - 2016, any ideas what is causing this?

Hi

Is it a custom family or one from the default library?

if you could attach the family file I can take a look at it.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your reply. There is nothing special about the family, just a custom strip footing.

File attached

After playing with the family further, there only appears to be an issue with it when loaded into the company custom templates. Out of the box Revit templates seem to work fine with it.

Obviously something has gone awry with the template itself during the upgrade process.

That makes sense as I cant find anything wrong with it.

You might have to recreate your templates again

Is it possible to duplicate the family in your custom project, after you remove all your project parameters?.

I think the error is something with a formula in a shared parameter, loaded as a project parameter, but i could be wrong..

I have had similar issues but only with Concrete "Loadable" Families loaded into our own Customised Company Template.  It isn't a problem trying to Duplicate a TYPE with the Timber or Steel Families that contain similar formulas against Shared or Project Parameters.  I have tried swiching the Material Behaviour of a Concrete Beam to Wood but I still get the same problem with the duplication.

The same thing occurs if you try to duplicate the element from the list in the Project Browser.  However, if you Select the Family in the Browser and opt for "Create New Type" then it does work and the formulas work ok.

Also, if you Edit the Family and create a New Type, then reload, it also works fine.

I have been through the tasks of recreating a new upgraded 2016 - 2017 Template and ensuring all my Concrete Families have been upgraded to 2017 but no joy.  Looks like I need to start from scratch with a Raw 2017 Template to overcome this issue, unless anyone else has found a solution.

This doesn't seem to be solved. Just because you found the problem doesn't mean it's solved. Unless I'm missing something, a work around is NOT a solution.
