My model is now 70MB. Why is my model now so 'jolty' for want of a better word. Panning, moving items, copying, in general every operation is the opposite of smooth. You have to wait a short time between every operation and considering you perform these literally thousands of times a day, you find yourself 'waiting for the software to catch up'.
This provides a poor user experience. I have used numerous pieces of software over the years and all functioned 'timely' and smoothly, being highly responsive to user input.
Is Revit super power hungry, what is the reason for this.
it could be any number of things, and as with any software, there are best practices for working which will affect performance.
What version of Revit are you using? Performance enhancements have occured in every single release.
What Video card and driver are you using?'
What are your hardware specs?
Are you using Hardware acceleration?
what "view styles" are you using? Hidden line? Shaded? are shadows on? are ambient shadows on?
Do you have anti-aliasing of views turned on?
are you using imported DWG files?
are you using "efficient" modeling techniques? Do you have "heavy" families loaded?
I could go on as there are many things that affect performance. If you can answer some of these, it might help. Screenshots of your model might help as well.
Check your list of Warning, which is located on the Manage tab of the Ribbon. A large number of warning can potentially bog things down. Also, try disabling the calculations for some or all of your Duct and Pipe System, which can be toggled under each System's Type Properties.
