1. Does anyone have one sample of a Tel/Data device with annotation so that
when it is placed on the plan the label can be filled in with its own value
that will display on the drawing? Or a selectable type with preset values.
How is everyone handling this situation?
I've created data outlet family types under 1(one) family (eg Data Outlet on wall).
In our case we have a very unique nomenclature for data outlets at 18". (eg "CC")
The data cable counts follow the nomenclature. (eg "CC2" = 2 data cables @ 18" AFF)
All that to say I then created family types with all of the nomenclatures that we use at our firm.
I then created from a generic tag label with intstance based parameters associated to it. The label has the family type for the parameter.
When you load the data tag and point the on the family it displays the family type. (eg "CC2/CC3/CC4")
It's hard to explain but I attached an image so you can see.
2. Also same device, how is everyone dealing with the annotation being
displayed horizontally all the time? This also applies to outlets as well.
By horizontally do you mean lefr to right readable? I just move my tags close on angled and vertical walls.
3. Are users converting wall based elements to face based so that if a wall
is deleted the device stays on the plan so it can be moved and not deleted
automatically when the wall is removed?
I've created my own data device families that are face based because I deal with linked models and Revit has a really hard time placing wall based families into linked models.
If you're using Revit's default data outlet you can use the copy monitor method to move wall based families to face based.
See this thread if you need to convert. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture/convert-a-family-from-wall-based-to-face-based/td-p...
Hope this helps!!
