Splitting ducts without using unions

Hi all,

When I split a straight duct Revit by defauls adds a union. I would lilke to split the duct into duct pieces but with no union. Actually what I want is two ducts being connected by flanges.

Regards,

What you can do is to duplicate the union and edit it so it looks like a flange then add this into the duct routing preferences (as attached).

Thanks mate...

I am having a problem here....I am trying to follow your instruction

I want my flange thickness to be at 38 mm and what I did I added 8 reference planes and an extrusion to show the flange...

What i did next was loading it to the main project and going to duct routing preference and changing the union to the flange I just made

Unfortunately the result is not the same as yours...my flange and air ways size change!....family is attached. Can you please tell me what am I doing wrong?

Apart from that I would really like my section view of the duct to look like this...

If not possible I will stick to your method and add detail drawings for this purpose

Any help is greatly appreciated

What happened to your flange family was the internal dimension (which is the duct width & height) are constraint to reference plane which are not dimensioned. See attached.

I'm working on the additional bolt. I will let you when I'm done.

Here you go.

You can amend the bolt dimensions to suit your requirements.

can you think of a way that flange becomes part of the duct not a seperate fitting...as you know in reality this is the case

No since Ducts are system families which are not editable.
