Save to Central Issues

I have a Revit MEP file with an Arch file linked. Every time we do a save to central we get a message that pops up and tells us that someone is accessing the central file. The kicker is, the central file it is telling us is the Arch model linked in. Causing our file to take forever to save.

Why is this doing it and can anyone help?

Anyone????

Robert,

Do you have the Arch central file linked directly into your file? We had similar problem with the amount of time it took to save. We
ended up creating a local copy of the Arch file for each user and linked that in instead. The downside is that you need to "reload
latest" your local Arch copy to keep your MEP file with the updated link.

Robert,
John is dead on here, using a local copy of the Architectural Central is the best practice here. It should significantly reduce network traffic when loading the project and saving.

John and Kyle are correct, but I wanted to chime in on here. It could be
that the Arch file was never detached from it's on central location when
sent to you. You can open that file > check detach from central and then
save it as a local copy as mentioned above then do your linking.

Creating a local copy of the central seems to have helped. We work in one firm so there was no need to detach it from central. However, I have found that if I was to copy over the Architectural central file, lets say in the middle of the day to see the latest changes, and try and do a reload. Revit MEP does not like that at all. And gave an error I have never seen before, telling me the file is corrupt and I need to contact Autodesk. If I get out of the MEP file and then copy over the Architectural and reopen my MEP file, everything is fine, but this is a 20 minute process to open the file.
