We have created the architecture model and placed the Room name in the Architecture.rvt file. Linked the Architecture.rvt file in the MEP.rvt file whre we have placed the data device family in individual room. Now we can generate the Data Device Schedule including Room Name & Number as per the linked file.
Thanks in advance!
Local elements cannot inherit the Room data from a Linked Model. You will have to place Spaces, and then pull the Room Information through the Spaces.
On a side note, there is a handy Add-In called "Space Naming Uility" that is available for free in the Autodesk Subscription Center that will help keep the Space Names and Numbers up-to-date with their associated Rooms.
We appreciate your valuable feedback. We can see the Space Name & Space number in the Data Device Schedule with the help of Space Naming Uility tool.
Can you please explain/provied the process of the 1st option which you mentioned (pull the Room Information through the Spaces)
Thanks in advance!
Using this method, you will create a Space Schedule and include the Fields "Room: Number" and/or "Room: Name" which are accessible when "Select available fields from:" is set to "Room". Then configure an Embedded Schedule for your Data Devices and the will be divided/sorted by the Room Number/Name first, and then in whatever order your Embedded Schedule is set to.
Thanks for your reply.
Mainly we can generate the Data Device Schedule with Room Name & Room Number.
We have followed your steps to do this (See the attached snaps).
Remaining snaps:
Your "Step_2" image depicts a blank Space Schedule, which shouldn't be. Select the link and click "Type Properties" - is "Room Bounding" enabled?
In your "Step_5" images, you show that the chosen Fields for your Embedded Data Schedule are "Room: Number" and "Room: Name". That won't work, which is the point of listing these Fields in the Space Schedule. Select all the Fields you would normally use except for those two fields.
Attached is a crude example Project in Revit 2013 format. The Rooms were created locally in lieu of having a Linked Model.
Thanks for your suggestion. When we generate the schedule for linked file then we can't fulfill our requirement. We have attached the snap for the schedule. Can you please suggest.
Is "Room Bounding" for the linked model enabled? Also, try creating a Room Schedule, include those fields, and enable "include elements in linked files"; does the Schedule become populated with data?
Yes. We have attached some reference snap for your better understanding. So please suggest.
Create a Room Schedule (in lieu of a Space Schedule) including linked elements to ensure that the data is correct in the Linked Model.
If you want to extract the data device at each room you can copy the original working file and change the category for data device into electrical equipment
and then create schedule for electrical equipment it'll show you the room name and number
I copied the data device from level 3 to level 4 , but the space name and number did not update automatically,it copied also the space name and number for level 3, how can I solve this issue?
