This first release of Revit Systems does have piping capabilities, however as with any first release product there are some gaps in the number of 3D fittings and parts provided in the family libraries out of the box. We are committed to filling these content gaps as quickly as possible with aggressive release plans. As many of you are aware, the variety and number of piping and plumbing fittings and connection types required to model every kind of system in any type of building is huge. For those of you who are anxious to gain the competitive advantages of BIM for MEP as quickly as possible, there is a content creation tool called Family Editor provided with Revit Systems where you can build any 3D fittings or content required for modeling your projects that we have not provided in the box yet.

The piping is there (very basic), but I don't see the plumbing module. There is not even a tutorial for it. Like I said, Did I miss something when I installed it, or is the plumbing coming later on. On a positive note the mechanical and electrical seem very capable, except that the electrical does not include an schematic drawing tools (for rises and one lines)

There will definitely be more plumbing specific content and features coming in future releases. However, from a modeling perspective, pipe is pipe whether it's CW supply to a sink or CW supply to a chiller. From a usability perspective would you rather learn separate tools for each or have a common modeling tool for piping/plumbing where only the content you choose to model with determines the different systems?

Schematics is a different topic. Doesn't fit the modeling paradigm very well. May require more of a drafting solution than a BIM to solve well. ABS does a pretty nice job with intelligent schematics already. We are considering how to tie these different types of representation more closely together.

Plumbing I was thinking more along fixtures and the ability to connect intelligently (as AB'S) to them.

That capability is in this release already. Just not a whole of fixtures in the library yet.

I havent seen alot of promises from adesk re. systems. Its definitely not complete but shouldnt take as long as ABS did to get there i think.
My evaluation is its not ready for prime-time yet. There's still alot of common equipment to be developed. As far as full price, you could have both for very little extra. so, highly discounted is more like it.

Not to sound negative, but we've been waiting for the content level to rise
to a useable level for three releases in ABS. Of course vendor support would
be welcomed as well, but it's still very limited...

I would be interested in finding out how this is going to work for you. Could you post your experience with inventor for piping in Revit. Thanks
