Revit Building and Revit Systems

Does anyone knows if the new Revit System includes Revit Building, similar to ABS including ADT?

It's built on the same code-base, and can certainly open files from Revit
Building. However while there are some basic architectural functions built
in, I don't think they're all exposed to the user interface. I've spent all
of about three hours with it so far, though, so I could be wrong.

For offices that are currently using ABS, and use the built-in ADT functionality and want to move to Revit. Is Autodesk going to make them buy two programs (Revit Building and Revit Systems) to have the same capability. Does not seem fair.

Is this enough, or do you need more?

It seems to have the basic architectural objects. Just curious, what is included in Revit Building, that is not included in Revit Systems, as far as architectural is concerned.

You will be able to buy "Revit Systems Series Pro", which will be Revit
Systems and ABS bundled together. So if yo already have ABS, you should be
able to switch to the Series package for a great price.

Actually I think it's Revit Systems Series Plus, but yes, it is Revit
Systems and ABS bundled together.

So why don't they have Revit Building and ADT bundled together instead of
Revit Building and AutoCAD?

Hi Everyone,

Here is the scoop...Revit Systems is available as part of the Autodesk AutoCAD Revit Series - Systems Plus bundle, which includes both ABS and Revit Systems. The purpose of the bundle to support our MEP customers who primarily are working in an AutoCAD-based workflow, though are looking to or are beginning to have the need to support Revit-based workflows as well. I could go into a lot more explanation but that is the purpose of the bundle in a nutshell. As for the Architectural functionality in Revit Systems... all Revit Building functionality exists in Revit Systems EXCEPT for the Site features and most of the Structural features. As for additional product "bundles" there have been many discussions for a variety of options, however the key here is what would make sense for the majority of our customers. Much research is ongoing and will be moving forward to ensure that we bring to our customers solutions that make sense based on their work methods. I hope that helps clarify most of the questions raised in this thread.

Revit Structure 2 has a site design tab, with all the subcommands.

We're currently looking towards moving from purely 2d AutoCAD drawings to 3d BIM and what software is available and/or best to go for.

Would I be right in saying that Revit Building is more architectural than structural (and vice versa with Revit Structure)?

I read above that Revit Systems will include ABS and Revit Building. Will this be any good for structural construction drawings rather than architectural building design?

I ask this as Laura mentioned how Revit System is aimed at users working in AutoCAD based drawings with a growing need for Revit. This seems to fit our situation, but we require more structural capability than architectural.

Revit Building is architectural. Revit Structures is nearly the same, with
added tools for structural engineering/analysis. Revit Systems comes
bundled with ABS, and is a Revit product meant for MEP engineers.. Its not
Revit Building with ABS.

Revit Structures is your pick for Structural building design.

Having a RBS/ABS bundle and no RB/ADT bundle makes no sense to this customer.

I just upgraded to Revit Series-Systems plus.
My resellar says there are some roof functions as well that are missing.
With ABS I can import structural with RAM ADT-link, do the MEP, make
complicated roof slabs with components. Do sections through a complete
building with ducts, structural, plumbing and architectural objects.
Why do I have to buy Revit Building, structures, and Systems to do the same?
(Besides making more sales for Autodesk)

lot's of people are trying to ask the same question-
but no answers are coming forward..
we have revit building/structure/systems..
three separate programs.. those programs cost a
lot of money... so natually we want to know what
combination of those programs will do it all...
if we all had money to burn we would just buy all
three whether we needed to or not.. and i'm sure
autodesk would like that.. laura says minus site
and structual features in revit systems.. so does
that mean revit structure and revit systems would
do everything? and does that mean if you bought
revit structure and revit systems that you'd have
no need to buy revit building? is autodesk playing
that game where you try to follow the pea under
the three walnut shells?

In short:

Systems - provides functionality to design and analyze MEP systems that is not available in Building or Structure

Structure - provides functionality to design and analyze Structural systems that is not available in Building or Systems

Building - provides functionality to design various architectural elements that is not available in Systems or Structure.

We have Revit Structure and Systems, we have been able complete the tutorials for Building. Based on our experience thus far, the combination of Systems / Structures will let you complete any project that requires Revit Building, plus you get the structural and MEP analysis and model.

do you have stair/raining tools in Systems/Structures? do you have curtain
wall tools? Ramps? What about Host Sweeps (to create wall reveals or
sweeps, or roof fascias)? I think there are many tools in Building that are
not available in Structures/Systems.

not sure why several people continue stating
there's no curtainwall or stair or rail tools
in systems because i have built those
items in systems.. i wonder how hard it would be for
autodesk to have one program that does it all? i'm
not complaining- i'm grateful this high-tech building
program is here and i thank autodesk
for bringing it here..
