Revit 2009 and new builds...

I have had two Autodesk reseller inform me that with Revit 2009 that the
Architect, Structural and MEP Engineers that work on a project need to be on
the same version of Revit. That's not new. But what they also informed me
was that everyone needs to be on the same "build". Is this true?

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,

I know that our structural section in Wellington had big problems when running diffferent builds of MEP Structural 2008 within the same office. Everyone uses the same version in-house now, but KarelCad have warned us that there could be problems working with third parties that use different builds.

This is a quote from one of our guys in NZ I received this morning: 'Karelcad says that there are some incompatibilities between builds although I don’t think I have come across an error that resulted from this'.

Dennis,
Within a release, there should be no File Format compatibility issues between different build of Revit, so this is by no means a requirement. In general though, it is a best practice.

Web Updates are focused on bug fixes that are implemented after release. Having everyone working on the same build makes sure that everybody has the same code base, which helps to reduce issues.

Kyle,

Will Web Updates be released for Revit Architectural, Structural and MEP all
the same time?

Thanks,
Dennis

Yep, that's how we schedule them. Occasionally they may be spaced out by up to a week due to specific late fixes.

Check out this AUGI thread on this subject. http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=81019&page=2
