reference files

I am working on lighting plans. There are five levels in my building but 2 through 5 are typical. The architect has not put any lights on levels 3 to 5 so I need  an underlaid reference fileto show me the locations.I imported a 3d cad file which I copied and renamed from level 2, loaded it into level 3, and adjusted the elevation so that it was visible in the ceiling plan. However I am now unable to select any of the lights that I have already put in, it seems like all I can select now is the imported cad file. How do i adjust this so that I can see the lighting layout without it interfereing with my working plan.

There are tools available from in Revit 2014 that should help you with this. Located just under the Modify Button on the ribbon, click on Select, here you can choose what elements you want (or not as in this case) to select. If you pin the link file in place and then deselect the appropriate box, you should find that you can now select the lighting / all other elements.

Hope this helps

Are you able to see your lighting fixture and not able to select them or you dont see them any more. if you select the imported dwg file in you ceiling plan and then right click go to (Override Graphics in view)---By Category and then I adjust the Surface Transparency, are you able to able to select them or you still have the issue?
