Plumbing Sheets

We are starting to get more into using Revit. We are about to finish our first job and have another starting in a few days. Our current Revit project we are switching back and forth between Autocad MEP and Revit. Autocad has the plumbing drawings and Revit has the main HVAC sheets. All of our details were done in AutoCad. The main reason we did the plumbing in Autocad was the drawings just look better. I would like to know how you and your firm are issuing plumbing sheets. How did you adapt? I am including PDF's of how we normally like to send out our plumbing sheets.

Thanks

Carrie

We are transitioning in the same manner and though we don't have a ton of Revit projects, they are becoming more numerous. At first, we imported all plumbing from AutoCAD. Some problems arose regarding appearance, but mostly with text, as we still mourn the loss of RomanS. As we progress, we have a couple of projects' plumbing in Revit (annotating heavily) with the following methods to maintain some level of clarity. (Note that we are still adjusting our methods and realize that perfection is nowhere near possible.)

Underground Plumbing: We showed all of the piping at FINE detail as SHADED. See attached example.

Suspended Plumbing: Displayed piping at COARSE detail as HIDDEN LINE. See attached example.

Riser Diagram: One project imported from AutoCAD, one tagged in a 3D Riser DIagram.

Key Notes: NOT USED. Multi-category Tag with associated Shared Parameter for Keynote Number (Integer).

Our firm prides our clean, clear drawings produced in AutoCAD. However, we are hesitant to put on names on Revit drawings as of yet. It is getting better, though. Little by little...
