Pipe penetrations through concrete beam during co-ordination

Its is a technical question.

Are there any thumbrules for positioning the opening on the structural beam for MEP services (Duct, Pipe etc.)? From where we can mainly get some idea about topic.

Rules search for:

  • Vertical Penetration on Superstructure Beam
  • Horizontal Penetration on Superstructure Beam

Thanks in advance.

Thanks & Regards

I am assuming you are talking about a beam penetration so typically you want to stay in the middle third vertically. As far as horizontally it varies from job to job.

Generaly when I am placing penetrations in Revit model I do it with the Sub there so there is no confusion as to what the general rule is.  I have found some times it varies from job to job and even sub to sub

Appreciate your valuable feedback.

Can you please send us any snap from which we can get some idea (Horizontally & Vertically) for pipe penetration on beam.

Thanks in advance.
