Pipe down/pipe symbol perminate solution

I understand that a pipe will only show the pipe up symbol if connected to a fixture, endcap, etc.  This seems like a lot of added effort to have to add endcaps or hidden families just to show the pipe up symbol. In our model the the arch wants to own the fixtures, so we are just running the pipe up to them and stopping,no actual connections so it all shows the down symbol.

Is there a more permanent solution than described above?

If the vertical Pipe extends above the Top of the View Range, it will display the proper annotations, as well.

Depending on what else is in the view, you could try lowering the top of the View Range to meet the pipe. That should also get the drop symbols to show.
