New Materials

Is there a way to add other materials to the pipe and ductwork. At this point for piping there is only copper, carbon steel, ductile iron, plastic, and stainless steel. I would like to add Pex tubing and few others. Where is the file that lists the properties for these pipes? thank you for your help.

Pipes, yes (but hard). Ducts, no. Ducts really don't know anything about
their materials currently. There is a "roughness" applied to the ducts, and
it is simply editable so you can change it for whatever material you would
like, just create a new duct type and change the roughness.

Pipes: If you look in your installation folder (the same place that
Revit.exe is) there is a file called PipeSizes.xml. This file contains the
information on the pipe materials, roughness, connection types, and classes
that are available in the application. For each new material there is a name
and roughness, a list of connection types, a list of nominal sizes, a list
of classes, then a list of ID's and OD's for each nominal size and class.
Adding a new mateiral for PEX would look something like this (although I
made up the ID and OD values, so please don't use them)

You'll need to close and re-open revit systems for the xml file to be read
if you make changes.

PLEASE make a copy of the file before you start to edit it. Editing XML
isn't horribly fun and there isn't much there to tell you if you happen to
have a typo anywhere.

Hello Jason,

I have some problem in new piping. My company is using other pipe material UPVC class " VP/AW & VU/AE ". This one is Japenese Standard.

So i tried with your methods but i did not find pipesizes.xml. Only i found pipe pipekfactors.xml in revit 2016 version.

Therefore do you have any method to solove this problem?

Please let me know.
