MEP Family and Section Cuts

Okay -I have a family. It has several families put together to create the family.

WHen I do a section cut in the family editor it works perfectly.

When I bring it into a project - it no  longer works. In the section cut it looks like I am looking at the outside of the family and not actually cutting it.

I am obviously missing something - but I can't figure it out.

Elements of the MEP Categories, such as Mechanical Equipment, will not be cut by a Section View. In order for that to show properly, try either changing it to or embedding it into a Generic Model family.

Thank you - I knew I was missing something but could not remember what it was.

Thanks again.

I would not go the route of generic model because other people might have generic models and if they only want to see generic models and not your mechanical equipment (categorized as generic model), they'd have to turn it off in custom link view properties under your link (or create a filter for it).  Same thing with you if you want all generic models turned off but want that mechanical equipment shown.

If you want a section shown, just make a 3D view and adjust the box.
