Making read only file editable

Is there a way to make a read only file editable and allow worksharing in Revit MEP?

Guessing here, assuming you have received a previously centralized RVT file:  When you go to open the RVT project file, check the box "Detach from Central", then you will have full control over the project file, can choose to retain worksets or not, and can save to any name you choose.

any native revit can't be Read Only.

Users can only take ownership of few elemetns or worksets.

that also can be override by Detaching from Central and creating a new central file.

When we Detach from Central and create a new central file, only the person that created the new file can save changes to the file. Other users changes are only temporary and not saved.

When a Central File is directly opened or is opened with Detach from Central, the user that opens it takes ownership. Try having that user hit "Relinquish All Mine" right after saving the new Central File. If that doesn't work, try having him create a Local File immediately afterwards, 'Synchronize with Central', and then 'Relinquish All Mine'.

The users can check all the checkboxes (while synchronizing wtih central) to release all the rights.

Then other users can easily work on the model.
