locking a model

Is it possible to lock a model and not be able to move it. Like in AutoCAD how we can lock layers and not move them?

what does that do and how is that done.

It makes the object immovable. you can still delete it but you get a warning message after you do.

to do this, highlight the object then click the pushpin icon on the standard toolbar. Its near the far right.
