Inserting a word doc

Ok I know this is a stupid idea but I have to do it.

I have a 10000 word file in Word that I need to lay onto a Revit sheet as 'General Notes' Currently I'm making text boxes then cutting and pasting into them. It fills 2 A1 sheets. Now I have to go back through and reformat it all so the bullets, tabs, etc look right.
There must be an easier way....

Not Really. There is no work being done to provide OLE linking within Revit. The other possibility would be to print it to a jpg, and bring that in. Not the greatest solution. If you past this into a Drafting view, you'll be able to bring that view into other projects with ease.

Well, I have to ask -- why would the so-called next generation of CAD software NOT have OLE linking in its future? This is a HUGE shortcoming!

(I have no affiliation with Autodesk, but this will sound like an Autodesk response.)

I also wish Word documents could be linked ito Revit, however, it is not the "next generation of CAD software" , nor has it ever been called that. Our company made the mistake of thinking that it was a glorified version of AutoCAD, and soon realized that was not the case. My guess it that they are focusing on enhancing the design capabilities of Revit and the "drafting" aspect will improve over time.

Why not just spend the time, make the text box like you are, but do that
in a drafting view, save the view for future use, at least this way If
certain notes change you can manipulate the boxes in revit.

We all did this in the CAD world using MTEXT, I know the text feature is
not as great as MTEXT, but you have to work with what we have. What
could you do in AutoCAD in release 4? you have to ask yourselves that
question.

This next statement is more for everyone on the discussion group, as I
am finding more and more people are frustrated with Autodesk.

"We live in a sociality of people that want everything (the newest
gadgets, toys, etc. and we are never happen with what we get". I don't
understand.

Well put. I think the common mistake people make with Revit is to assume that it has all of the capabilities of AutoCAD. When my company purchased Revit MEP, we assumed we wouldn't lose any drafting capabilities and soon found out we were wrong. Yes, it's frustrating at times but it is what it is. All we can do is give Autodesk our wish lists and let them take it from there.
