Incompatibility of Revit mep extension with Windows7 64 bit and Excel 2010 32bit

Autodesk says Revit mep 2013 extension download is an Excel Based Model Generation tool that is incompatible on systems using  Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit with Microsoft Office Excel 2007 32 bit but it also says that it is compatible with 32 and 64 bit computer systems. I have Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit with Microsoft Office Excel 2010 32 bit and I downloaded and installed the  Revit mep 2013 extension. It did add an "Extension" tab to Revit but it seems to be missing several toolbar buttons such as the "Modeling" button. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I think I am going to try to upgrade my Excel to 2010 64bit and see if that works. Autodesk didn't say which combination of versions of Revit and Excel will work they just pointed out which wouldn't. So I don't know if it didn't work because my Excel is too old or because its 32bit instead of 64bit. Any suggestions are welcome. I want to be able to use the framing generator that is part of the extension.

The Revit 2013 extensions (For Revit 2013, Revit Architecture 2013, Revit Structure 2013, and Revit MEP 2013) are compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Revit.

However, 64-bit versions of Revit may not be able to interact with 32-bit versions of other applications, and this would be why the Excel Based Model Generation extension has a note that the extension would be incompatible with a system using a 64-bit operating system (which would install a 64-bit version of Revit) and a 32-bit version of Office.

There is also a note that the extension is only available in the architecture and structural contexts. This would mean that this extension (including the Frame Generator which has the same note) would not show up in Revit MEP.
