Import .sat into REVIT

Hi everyone.

I need to import a .sat file into REVIT. When I do the import CAD and select the .sat format into a Generical Model family appear a message saying some SAT formats lost during import and leave with a empty family file.

I want to know how do you do when you need to import a file with .sat extension.

I Had a similar issue, and in many cases I found that it depends how the SAT file was created, in one ocassion was created in Rhino and it was necessary to created the SAT file with the "Optimozed Geometry setting".

I would suggest to try with different exporting options to the SAT file and then tried to opened in Revit.

One of the main problems is that I am not the creator of the .sat file. A manufacturer of rooftops in this case send us a type of rooftop that we wan´t to use in a particulary case. And, as a Revit designer, I wan´t to make the project with maximum of detail.

But the manufacturer only send us the products in .sat. Unlucky or inexperience by me. I don´t know so I need help here in forum.

I opened in the "CAD exchanger App" and then I saved back to SAT format, inserted in Revit as CAD, and it worked,

What is CAD exchanger App and you inserted in REVIT as cad or as .sat?

I'm looking at tutorials online of how to bring in a .SAT file into Revit, so I follow up to the point of going to 'Insert', 'Import CAD', however when on tutorials folk are saying to change the import file type to 'ACIS SAT Files (*.sat), this option is not there at all.

I'm using Revit LT 2016 at the moment, has the .SAT import option been removed in this version as I've noticed all of the tutorials i'm watching are on 2014 and below?
