import parameters into a family

I am a new Revit User (old acad user)
I am making an exhaust fan family
Can I make a excel/text file that lists the parameters-discipline, type, group, instance/type, formulas, etc.
When I would import this text file into my family, all of my parameters would be set and I would not have to build them in the Revit family

Seems to me that this would be helpful. It would be way easier build the information in excel

PS I am not talking about filling in the parameter values in a project into which the family has been inserted
PS is this something for VSTA (I have alot of experience with Autocad VBA)

Please look into type catalogs. Not quite Excel, but a .csv file is used for them.

I am looking to input the parameters into a text file. I know that the type catalog is used to designate the values of the parameters. I need the parameters themselves added to the family.
