Having problems with Spaces

Here's what I have:

1. Architectural model (single story classroom building) done in Revit
2008 with Room Tags and upgraded the model to Revit 2009.
2. Linked this architectural model into a new project using the
Mechanical Default template.
3. Changed the element properties of the linked model to enable "Room
Bounding".
4. Copied/Monitored the Floor Plan level and the Reflected Ceiling Plan
level.
5. Duplicated the Floor Plan View to make a HVAC Floor Plan view.
6. Applied the Mechanical Plan View Template.

Here's my problem:

1. Select the Space button.
2. Set the Upper Limit to the Reflected Ceiling Plan and the Offset to
0'-0" (per Kyle's video).

I get 2 warning message:

None of the created elements are visible in Floor Plan: HVAC FLOOR PLAN
View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility
settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings.

and

Could not create geometry for Space.

If I use the Floor Plan as the Upper Limit and use the default offset of
8'-0" the Space Tag inserts fine. However my ceiling is at 10'. If I try to
use an offset of 10'-0" I get the same 2 warning messages.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dennis

Just a shot in the dark here, but have you checked your view range and made sure the cut plane is above the ceiling?

I'm not sure either, but I suspect it has to do with the View Range for your current view and the Calculation Height of the Level Type. I'd recommend that you log the issue with our Subscription Support team, as it's difficult to diagnose without example files.

Kyle,

Sorry for such a late response, but things have been crazy for the last
couple of weeks. I haven't log the issue with the Subscription Support team
*yet* as I'm trying to make sure I understand what the problem is. I've
tried adjusting the range view, but no success. How do you change the
Calculation Heights of the Level Type?

FYI, I opened the architectural model and was able to create Spaces for each
room and was even able to adjust the Spaces. This worked fine. However, when
I link the architectural model into a new project my problems begin.

Thanks,
Dennis

Select a Level, go to its Element Properties, then edit the Type Parameters.

Did you delete the original levels in the template before copy/monitoring the levels from the Arch model?

I am having the exact same problem. Cannot create one space. Looks easy on the video but when I try I get the same warnings as you get.

cdeweese,

I never did find out what caused the problem. I believe it had something to
do the linked architectural model, as other models have not exhibited this
problem.

I'm having the same problem did you find a workaround for this?
