Family question

Is there a way to make, for example, a receptacle family so that the text inside the family will rotate and be editable without editing the family? Right now when I take a GFI receptacle and place it on the top wall the GFI is upside down and I can’t move it or edit it unless I edit the family.

Try a couple things:

You could try using an annotation family as opposed to text or even a label.
Make sure "Keep readable" is checked in the family (If text or label is used).
Make sure the family was made with correct template. IE: If it's a wall based item, it should have been created with a wall based .rft.

If I'm not mistaken even with the "keep readable" checked it will not function properly. If you want to be able to edit the label you need to map the label to a parameter and make the parameter an instance parameter not a type parameter.
