How do I associate a 2d symbol with a 3d element so when the symbol is placed in plan or elevation views the 3d image updates in all view? The loaded families do this automatically but edited families are the challenge.
You need to create annotation symbols and load them into the 3d family. You can have a number of annotation symbols loaded into the same 3D family and control their visibility through on/off parameters. There's lots on youtube about this. If its easier you could interrogate one of the OOTB families and save the annotation symbol as something else and change it how you want and load it back in.
