Electrical Families

Has anyone created a better set of electrical families? The default electrical receptacles have text that prints upside down if placed on a North wall, also the text prints in the middle of a wall. Most of the electrical blocks have problems like this. We're struggling to fix these one by one, but it would be nice to know we aren't reinventing the wheel.

Who has created electrical families and successfully used them?

Here is the same question put another way: Can you create an annotation with some text in it, that always reads right side up on a sheet regardless of the orientation of the symbol? AutoCad allows this using Dynamic Blocks, allowing the user to rotate and move the text. Can Revit do it?

I have in fact recently created several electrical families and found that if you made the symol in a detail components file, you must then create your text in an annotation file then load it into the other. When everything is done and you have it loaded into your project, you will find that your text moves and rotates with your drawing. If you feel the need to chge it, your going to have to go and edit family. Hopefully this helps.
