Duct/Pipe - Insulation/Cladding

Since I cant log a request through the Subscription centre for some reason im going to vent here.

Why is the insulation/Cladding acting as a seperate entity to the pipe or duct it is attached to? If I hide a duct or pipe from a view then the insulation/cladding remains behind visible. If I set a run of ducting as existing the ducting becomes lighter yet the insulation will remain the same!

Please someone correct here, this is becoming really annoying.

As far as I've heard, this odd and seemingly independent behavior of insulation is a bug, and several similar issues of strange behavior have been reported. Was it with Autodesk Feedback/Support that you tried seeking support? If so, it can take a little time.

Hi  Schmit01

Our Development is aware of this issue and are working on a fix.   Currently, you are unable to select and hide individual portions of duct insulation that remains after hiding the actual duct element.   You can turn all the insulation off through Visibilty/Graphics overrides.  If you wish to hide a portion of duct and the insulation is remaining, you can use the linework tool to turn the lines of the insulation to the <Invisible lines> line style.

We understand that this may not be the preferred workflow, but we are working to correct the issue. We do not have information regarding a timeline when this fix may be released.

Hi mirakations, welcome to the Discussion Groups!

What version of Revit are you using? You can select one or more elements* run of Insulated/Lined Duct and/or Duct Fittings and click "Edit Insulation" or "Edit Lining" on the Ribbon. That will "activate" the Insulation/Lining so you can hit "EH" and hide the element(s) in that View.

*To easily select and entire run of Duct and associated Duct Fittings, hover the cursor over a segment of that Duct and hit the Tab key. Once the run is highlighted, click to select all of the connected elements.

As for the instructions for the Linework tool (found on the Modify tab): activate the tool, and for the "Line Style:" pull-down on the Ribbon, select "<Invisible Lines>". Now, simply click on the lines that you want to hide.
