I am starting to do some research for my firm on daylighting software to go along with Revit as was as by its self for our LEED projects. I know IES full blown version software does this as well as a couple of others. Can you tell me which software you are using and why you went with that particular one verses others that are out there? What are the pros and cons? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm finding that IES VE is tough to use on big projects, and I think you'd really struggle to use it for any sort of LEED Performance Rating Method. I can go on at length about this. But long story short, I've reeled back my excitement over IES and went back to using Trace700 for my project.
Trace700 handles daylighting nicely. There may be some simplifications you have to make, but it gets the job done in far less time than IES and can handle bigger buildings.
