Copy/monitor levels/grids

Hello,

I had an arch model linked to my project which I have copy/monitored the levels and grids from. The arch re-sent a new model and advised me a few of the levels had chaanged. When I reloaded I got the yellow warning box that that arch file needs cordination and when I looked in section I could see 3 of my levels no longer lined up with the arch. I thought this would be better identified? Is it just a case of doing a manual check to determine what levels have changed?

So say for for example level 02 has moved - is it a case of just moving my old 'Level 02' to the new 'Level 02' position and this will keep the link or will I have to delete my old 02 and re-copy/monitor the new level 02 again?

When you get the warning box it is prompting you to perform a Coordination Review, this is found on the Collaborate tab.

Select the link file and a dialog opens that displays the changes, and their associated elements in your file. You then have options to accept, postpone, reject or accept the difference.

Results can be exported to an html report file for discussion before actually doing anything.

I havent got access to the model right now but say if I accept a level change will that automatically move my out of date level to the right matching level from the arch model or do I still need to manually move it?

Thats the point of the Coordination Review tool, once you have reviewed the differences, the options in the dialog allow you to select "Move Level 3" for example, and your Level 3 will then match the level against which it is monitored. Revit won't do this automatically, and I wouldn't want it to.

Consider the Architect makes a change which leaves the whole design team in uproar [never happens of course 😉 ] Would you really want your model to update, only to have it update again when the revised file comes through. It's a way of managing the change, one which you may not be ready for, and it gives you the chance to discuss with the rest of the team before commiting.

Thanks again. So when I manually move my Level 3 to match the new Level 3 how does that stay as a copy/monitor link? if down the road another arch model comes through and say level 3 has moved again will the coordination review know my level 3 needs a review?

I'm hoping we are not getting our wires crossed here - you are not using the Move Command from the Modify tab?

As long as you do everything through the Coordination Review dialog, Revit will maintain the relationship between your Level 3 and the corresponding level in the Architectural file, so if the level were to change again, Revit would once more prompt you to use Coordination Review.
