Our compagny is working with Revit on big models 400 - 600 MB.
Is there any knowledges about the use of bigger physical sector sizes for de workstation and the Revit server?
Information from Microsoft tells us that the latest OS form Windows support 4KB sectoren.
Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
We will run a test for the latest Autodeskproducts Revit2014 and Revit server 2014.
All because, with the best cadstations, server and 1Gb/s network the speed is to low.
(We use linking in our models)
This is what i have found:

(command fsutil for workstation.)
Thank you!

From what I have found, Revit Server 2014 was only tested using the default options for Microsoft Windows Server 2012.
If 4KB hard drive sectors is not a default option, then it has not been tested (internally) with Revit Server 2014.
Revit Server is built on IIS, and I would expect if IIS can run on 4KB sectors, then Revit Server would as well.
Regarding Revit 2014, I am still looking into testing/support for 4KB sectors.
From what I have found, 4KB sectors have been tested informally (by our developers) with Revit, and no issues have been found so far.
Thanks for your answer. That is a good sign for the future!
Do you know if there is any speedup in the load of big models or drawings on a cad workstation with 4k physical sector?
There for, you need Windows 8 and a 2014 product of Autodesk (Revit 2014, Autocad2014)
Perhaps you have the answer?
Thanks in advance

I haven't heard anything about how Revit performance is affected by 4KB sectors.
From what I have found online about 4KB sectors in general, the transition is being made to allow for larger hard drive sizes (over 2.2TBs), and increases the efficiency (allows more data to be stored on the same size drive). I haven't found information indicating that there is a significant performance benefit.
I found the following Seagate page with a great deal of information regarding 4KB sector hard drives:
