Issues with ifc import

Hello,

We are currently importing an IFC model in revit. We use a mapping table of NLRS (a Dutch standardization company), in which both ifc types and ifc entities are defined. The only problem is that when an ifc model is linked, it is converted randomly. The mapping table is always read in alphabetical order. So suppose, an ifc-entity has started with a letter that is earlier in the alphabet than the ifc-type then it will be converted to what is entered in ifc-entity. If the ifc-type has a value that occurs earlier in the alphabet than the value of the ifc entity, it will be converted to what is entered in ifc type.

So my solution seemed to be, to first define all ifc types in the mapping table and then the ifc entities. Unfortunately, this change didn't matter and the Revit import UI put all the defined import categories back in alphabetical order. Does anyone have a solution for this and is it a problem if you import without defined ifc entities?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I cannot share ifc files as this is customer information.

Hello,

Use open IFC command to make the conversion, then link the converted RVT file

You will get better results than the conversion using Link IFC
