Revit backup with a other extension ( autocad has . bak)

Change the extension of a revit backup file

Change the *** extension to anything else but *.000*.rvt

Autocad is not always bad to keep it as a example !!!

Results:

- remove all the backup files of multiple projects with no risk of removing the projects itself !

- you don't see the backups when opening projects in the program ( search is by extension)

- backup exlusion for this extension in the server

- filter by extension when searching folders

- not the same thumbnail in the folders

- ...

Yes, yes, a thousand time yes!

Especially when you name your files with an understandable name, the name gets too long to fit in the Open dialog.

Then you end up with a whole bunch of things that appear to be named the same, thus making it FAR too easy to open an old copy.

Cant emphasize how useful this would be, wish I had thought to suggest it!

As @dplumb_BWBR says it is too easy to open up the backup rather than the latest version.

Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea. Unfortunately, this idea did not get the support of the community over the last 6 months and as such we will not be pursuing it at this time. Please feel free to rework (titles and clear descriptions are really important) and resubmit this one down the road.
