window family: the elements don't follow the parametric height

OK, I figured out what the problem is.

Now this is my next question,.  I was able to make the width without any problem: meaning when I change the width,

the mullion, glazing, rough opening, all follow the width.

But the height doesn't work that way, what's the reason of it?

See attached file.

Thanks in advance.

Hi diesellam

If you draw another reference plane at where the top of the mullions and windows should be, align the tops of those elements to that reference plane while creating alignment constraints, create an alignment constraint as well for the opening to the top reference plane so its length adjusts with it, and create a length constraint for the two reference planes so the lower moves with the top, the elements will adjust for the height. Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

John,

It worked.  This is my question:

How come you have to do this is the elevation view, but you didn't have to do this in the plan view?

The sketch of the plan view is parallel to the reference planes in the elevations that you are constraining aligment and lengths to.  As such those references planes aren't visible in plan view so you aren't able to constrain items in the plan view to them.

John,

Thanks once again.  I think I understand right now.
