Trusses in Revit Architecture

Can i put a custom steel truss into Revit Architecture?
I have already made the truss and saved it as an rfa, I just can't seem to bring it in as component. Any suggestions??

Believe it or not, no you can't put a truss in Architecture.

yes you can load and use the custom truss you
made.  It will appear as a structural member when loaded.  Look into
the structure panel on the Home Tab of Revit 2010, and pick the Beam tool.
the truss will appear in the Type Selector.

Last time I checked, a Revit Structure Truss family doesn't work in Architecture.

erahn103: I assume you are trying to load in an object such as this one http://seek.autodesk.com/product/latest/adsk/revit/families/str/empty/Revit_STR1275. You will notice that under each of the RFA files that it notes Revit Structure. This means that you cannot use these Truss families inside of Architecture. It's a shortfall in Architecture that needs correcting.

The Revit Structure Truss family WILL load and
be usable in Revit Architecture.

Scott, you're going to have to enlighten us as to how you are achieving this, because while you CAN load a Revit Structure Truss family into Revit Architecture, using the Beam tool or dragging from the Project Browser does NOT get the object into the project workspace. I just tried this again for a second time.

So please do explain how you are doing this? Edited by: cgsmith on May 21, 2009 8:34 AM

hmmm, well that's not what I expected.  Sorry,
as I was certain this worked, but as you suggest it does not.  Workaround
alert:  you can create the truss in Revit Structure.  Save the
file.  Open the RVT in Revit Architecture with the truss.  Copy and
Paste the truss from the file into your project. It will paste in and will be
editable and stretchable in Revit Arch.

If you do not have Structure, let me know and i
will create a truss of your choice and post it here.

Is there an update to Architecture 2010 to enable the truss feature yet?  Do we need subscription services to get it?

You can place truss family elements in Revit 2011 and 2012.
