Translucent skylight in illuminance rendering

I am trying to measure the light coming through two distinct skylights, one transparent and one translucent. I have been using the illuminance output type when rendering through the cloud. However, I can not get the translucent skylight to appear translucent. The daylighting data shows the skylights either being completely transparent, with the direct light hitting the floors and the walls, or the skylight being completely opaque. I have changed the properties of the material, including the transparency and translucency, but nothing seems to change. The desired effect is a skylight that disperses the light through out the space. Any thoughts on how to make the skylight appear translucent in the illuminance rendering? Thank you.
